Field Work is here to share true stories in meaningful ways. We’ll start each new project by choosing the right form to tell the story, whether that’s live performance, oral history, audio documentary, or something else entirely.

Otherwise these days we’re out in the field digging into all kinds of stories, such as…

  • A combo live documentary/democratic game show

How many times have you asked yourself: How much longer can this go on? How much more can I take? Is this ok? Is this sustainable?

    Is this Viable?

When Alberta communities start to ask these questions they trigger a Viability Review, a formal process that ends with the residents literally casting their vote as to whether keep on trucking on their own, or call it a day and get absorbed by the nearest, viable community.

We’ll share the experiences of folks who’ve been through this process, while taking a look at our own lives.

    Is this moustache viable?

    Are my anti-depressants?

    Is hope?

After a formal review by our expert panel (aka cast) the audience will cast their votes, and maybe even ask for reviews of their own.

  • Late lawyer Joseph Arvay was Canada’s most creative and incisive interpreter of the Charter of Rights and Freedoms Canada’s ever seen. Look at this list:

    Safe Injection Sites

    Same sex marriage

    Sex Work

    Assisted Suicide

    Book Bans

    Polygamy?

Aside from being some of the hottest debated topics in Canada of the last 30 years, they’re also all issues which Arvay won landmark verdicts.

Right now we’re not sure what form this project will take; maybe a podcast series, maybe a documentary, maybe a book? We’ll let you know when we know.

  • A live documentary about caregivers.

  • ‘nough said

Some of these projects are underway, some are still just a glimmer in our eyes.
